Watercolor painting by Tom Francesconi

Tom Francesconi is a brilliant watercolorist who helps others make significant improvements to their work through his enlightening instruction and demonstrations. This workshop will expose you to Tom's approach to creating interpretive watercolors that are fresh and lively. Emphasis will be on creating better paintings through an understanding of the importance of well-considered value relationships and color decisions. Throughout this process, Tom will share his thoughts and approach to breaking free from the tyranny of the reference photograph, encouraging a more creative painting experience. You will gain a better understanding of the power of simplicity through a preliminary process of letting go.

Mornings will begin with a discussion about the day's topic followed by a demonstration that will allow you to see how Tom approaches a painting from start to finish. During the course of the workshop, illustrated examples will help students more fully understand certain concepts. Afternoons will be dedicated to student painting time during which Tom will attend to each student on an individual basis. Critiques will be scheduled as time allows. Tom strives to create an atmosphere that is educational, inspirational, and joyful.

"He is easily one of the best art educators available today!" - Pam L
