MINUTES - MARCH 4, 2020
Greetings to all members
The meeting of the Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society was called to order at 10:00 on Wednesday March 4th, 2020 by President Pat Lester. Any correspondence with Pat is easily done with a text or phone call as her email will be changing in the next several days. Her phone is 513 608 7132.
A new member was introduced. He is Keith Shebesta and has painted for the last 10 years. We welcome him.
Several members announced prize winnings and donations to non profits. We congratulate them for their talent and charitable efforts. Both Deb Ward and Gary Brooks will continue with workshops. Please email them if you are interested in furthering your knowledge of watercolor.
Jane Hittinger read a thank you from the facility to which our Christmas cards were sent as well as a letter from a specific veteran. It seems evident that we will continue with this Christmas tradition.
The fall workshop was announced by Tom Schroeder. October 22, 23 and 24 we will sponsor Dongfeng Li. The cost will be $300.00 with members having priority status. Non members' price will be $340.00. Members were encouraged to check out the artist on line.
Tom also announced the following presenters:
April: Steve Edwards
May: Rodney Revel
June: Fran Mangino
Aug. Open
Sept. Steve Coolman
Connie Dettmer gave the treasurer’s report and noted we have $334.00 in scholarship fund.
Kathy Lang, our membership chairman, asked members to be sure she has your most recent address, phone and email information.
Tom Schroeder then introduced our presenter, Ohio artist/designer Rick Mock. Before Rick started his demonstration, he took time to recognize a former art teacher, Ms. Lissa Hubbard who influenced his life as an artist and who attended our meeting. His talent as a painter of automobiles as well as lovely landscapes and abstracts captured our attention. Rick uses 300 pound Fabriano paper and paints with a collection of very bright colors. As the siren blew at noon, Rick still was not done speaking. He was very enthusiastic and we all love his painting titles including "I Shot the Chevy".
Thank you Tom for bringing Rick to us. Good job.
