MINUTES - AUGUST 7, 2013

Aug 23, 2013

Deb started the meeting with a meet and greet of the members sitting next to us.   Her quote for this meeting is “If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.”

The membership books have been mailed out with updated information on members.

There is still room for anyone interested in the Fran Mangino workshop on Oct. 25, 26 and 27. Deb will take deposit money for the workshop today.  Rhonda has set up a workshop with Carol Carter for April 5,6, and 7. There will be more information on this later.

On the back table there is information on the Bethesda North Prospectus and the KHAC show for those who are interested.  The American Watercolor Society show in Middletown and the ViewPoint show in downtown Cincinnati are still going on but will be ending soon.

Deb passed around nominating sheets for new officers. The new officers will be announced at the November meeting.

Barb Pryor will be bringing in art supplies that were donated by Mary Marxen’s daughter. They will be for sale at the next meeting. The money from the sale will go to our Young Artist Award Fund.

Deb has changed her email account since so many people were having trouble receiving it. Her new email is listed in the membership book.  If you need information about the meetings and club’s activities, the blog is a good source for this information. There is always information on the back table at the monthly meetings.

 Evergreen Show report:

Sally gave us an update on the club’s income and expenses for the month of July.

There are postcards on the back table for the Evergreen show.  The show opening is Sept. 22. Anyone participating in the show will need to drop of their work on Sept. 19, between 9 and 12. They will hang the pictures in the afternoon. We will need volunteers to help hang the pictures that day.  Sally said a number of people have volunteered to help including Larry Sparks, Virginia Mooney, Ardelle Duffy and several others. Shirley Knollman is coordinating the sitters for the show. She will be passing around a sign up sheet at the meeting today. If you are planning on entering any of your paintings for the show you will need to pre -register with Joyce Grothaus by Sept. 10. If you don’t pre-register then you paintings will not be listed in the program. Marilyn Bishop has sent out news releases to several different radio stations and local newspapers. There are registration forms on the back table. Please take your label off the paper when you take the form so we only send them to the ones that are left.

Guest:

Claudia Taylor is a student of Deb’s watercolor classes. Kris Schoettmer is Kay Worz’s sister and an artist and also helps with children with special needs.

Announcements:
