President Pat Lester called the meeting of the Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society to order at 10:00 on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019. Pat announced that there will be open studio painting. A count for lunch was taken,
No upcoming show, recognitions or awards were noted.
Treasurer Connie Dettmer reported a membership of 43 and a balance after the Mary Marxsen scholarship balance has been deducted. Deb Ward explained for newcomers the story of the late Mary Marxsen and her generous gift to our society.
Kathy Lang encouraged former members to sign up again and become reacquainted with our group. We welcome all new as well as old members.
Deb Ward reported that new society brochures are being printed.
Amy Giglio, Chairman of our show, will have a 'techno' review after today's meeting. This will include touching on facebook and instagram.
Joyce Grothaus reminded all that only paid members can submit paintings for the show. The fee for submissions is the same as in previous years, $20.00 for one painting, $25.00 for two. Although we are required to take part in putting this show together, this is considered a bargain. July 10th will be the deadline for submissions. The registration forms have been revised and will be available at the May meeting.
Chairman of the fall workshop, Debbie Cannatella announced it will be held September 20th, 21st and 22nd with artist Chris Krupinski teaching. Chris impressed us greatly last month with her program. Composition of a painting will be stressed.
The fundraising position is still open. The question of a raffle or 50/50 at the show will be discussed in the months ahead.
Tom Schroeder introduced our guest artist, Tom Sorrell.
Mary Fleischmann
