FEBRUARY 2012 - DARYL URIG
Daryl Urig was the speaker at our February, 2012 meeting. Daryl is a well known area oil painter, noted for his portraits.
Oil painter? What? At a watercolor meeting??? Why, yes!!
Daryl's program was about portraiture and he deftly explained to us how to go about measuring the facial proportions with the use of pink balloons! We pretended that the balloon was a head, and, using black magic markers, we sectioned it off into quadrants of the head and then the general proportions of the face and ears. He also reminded us that those proportions are generalized, and that the exact placement of facial features will change slightly with each individual.
Following his demo, Daryl was kind enough to offer his critique of our members' paintings.
