FEATURED ARTIST - WYNNE LYNCH BITTLINGER

How long have you been a member of the GCWS and why did you join?
Since the beginning because watercolor is my medium of choice and I enjoy the company and views of other artists.
Have you held any positions with the GCWS; if so, what positions?
No.

What are some of your artistic achievements?
My work has been entered into and won awards in many shows, including ViewPoint, Masterworks, American Academy of Equine Art, Louisville Watertower 2000, Women’s Art Club, Behringer Crawford Museum Show, a travel award in Kentucky Watercolor Society Aqueous show, and a travel award in the Ohio Watercolor Society show. I am most proud that I was a finalist in the Artist’s Magazine Still Life category in 1999, competing with over 13,000 entries! I also served as chair of the Cincinnati Art Club ViewPoint show from 2000-2003. At the start of my art career, I was awarded the top award for fashion illustration by the Art Directors Club of Cincinnati.

Describe your usual procedures for creating a painting.
For still lifes, I will set up my own and take photos. For portraits, I will shoot a roll of film. I prefer painting children.
How long have you been painting?
65 years – forever!
In what medium, other than watercolor or acrylic, do you work?
Oil and pastel.
Where do you get your inspiration for paintings?
Everywhere – there is beauty in everything.
Are you a teacher?
No.

Where do you see yourself in the future? (ie., is painting a hobby; will you enter shows; do you see yourself teaching?)
Painting is now more of a hobby, but I intend to enter shows in the future. I’m afraid I’m not a teacher.
